The Cedar Box is a hidden gem in the heart of Petersburg, Alaska. This unique gift shop is dedicated to sharing the stunning art and culture of indigenous people from all over Alaska. Since opening its doors in 2018, The Cedar Box has become a beloved destination for visitors looking to learn more about the Tlingit history and culture.

The owners of The Cedar Box, Christy and Will Ware, have a deep connection to the Tlingit heritage. Will is a member of the Taakdeintaan Clan, and Christy was adopted into the Naanya.aayí Clan. Together, they have been married for over 20 years and have raised their four children by living a substantial way of life that includes hunting, fishing, and respecting their culture and the richness that flows through it.

The Cedar Box is more than just a gift shop; it’s a place where visitors can learn about the Tlingit culture and history. The shop offers a wide variety of art, jewelry, and sea otter furs, all made by indigenous people from Alaska. Visitors can also purchase deer calls, which are a new addition to the shop. The Cedar Box is a great place to find unique and meaningful gifts that are deeply rooted in the Tlingit culture.

Will and Christy have always dreamed of a place where Will could sell his sea otter fur products, but their idea grew into something much bigger. They wanted to create a place that would bring more awareness and education on the beauty and depth of the precious Alaska Native Culture. The Cedar Box is a testament to their vision, and it continues to be a place where visitors can learn, appreciate, and celebrate the Tlingit heritage.

Overall, The Cedar Box is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in learning more about the Tlingit culture and history. With its unique selection of art, jewelry, and gifts, visitors are sure to find something special to take home. But more than that, The Cedar Box is a place where visitors can connect with the Tlingit culture and learn about its rich history and traditions.
